CELEBRATORS BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING MINUTES
MARCH 29, 2024
The meeting was called to order at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 29, 2024
by President Carol Coelho at the Artisan Park Clubhouse.
Also present were Phyllis Boyle, Martie Collins, Kathy Gordy, Mary
Hurley Smith, Carolyn Maranca, Cheryl Rosenberg, Cindy Swisher
and Pat Wells.
Absent were Rita Carafello, Phaedra Durost, Ann Fitzpatrick, Nancy
Jones and Rita Roberts.
1-Officer Reports:
Carol asked for a motion to approve the Secretary’s minutes
from the March 1, 2024 Board of Directors Meeting and the March 6,
2024 General Meeting. Martie made the motion and Carolyn
seconded and it was unanimously approved.
The group checkbook balance is currently $5,143.33. Carol will
find out if we have any outstanding debts and indicated she will speak
at the upcoming General Meeting regarding group expenses.
2-April Activities;
Lunch at the Club will be on April 6 at noon at the Artisan Park
Clubhouse. Lunch will be at noon on April 8 at 11 a.m. at Olivia’s in the
Old Key West Resort, 1510 North Cove Road, Lake Buena Vista. The
Social Supper will be at 5 p.m. on April 16 at Little Italy, 2901 Parkway
Blvd., Kissimmee. Dinner will be on April 25 at 5 p.m. at the Artisan
Park Clubhouse.
3-Overview of Speakers Scheduled-requesting suggestions/contacts:
Stephanie Garber, Professional Organizer, will be speaking at
our April 3 General Meeting. There will be mention of the upcoming
shredding event and the Lion’s Club collecting of eyeglasses in April
and May.
4-Increase of dues to $20 or $25 per year and payment of dues
optional after the age of 90; discussion of subsidies of events:
After discussion, a motion was made by Phyllis and seconded by
Kathy that we increase group dues to $20 per year beginning in 2025
and lift any age limit. It was passed unanimously. Cindy indicated
that she would take the age limit off of the membership application.
We then discussed the subsidizing of events and after a motion
was made by Cindy and seconded by Kathy and approved
unanimously, it was determined we would no longer subsidize any
event unless determined to do so by the Board of Directors.
5-Cancel August meetings but continue to hold monthly events;
After discussion, the Board decided to cancel both July and
August meetings but continue to hold regular events those months.
6-Events:
Fireworks cruise will be at Magic Kingdom on April 10 at 7 p.m.
at a cost of $45 per person leaving from the Contemporary Resort.
There were 30 spots available and this event is currently wait listed.
There will be a Cinco de Mayo party at the Artisan Park Clubhouse on
Sunday, May 5 at noon at a cost of $25 per person. Rita C is looking
into a potential airboat and jungle adventure excursion in Christmas,
Florida for later this year. There is also a possibility of a Victory casino
cruise later this year. The Celebrators will participate in the July 4
parade in town followed by a picnic at the Artisan Park Clubhouse.
We will be charged for use of the room and food is at participant’s
expense.
Celebrators will be having a cruise for members in January,
- Mary has presented 3 options. After discussion, it was decided
that those who indicate interest at the upcoming General Meeting will
be asked to choose which cruise they are most interested in and the
one with the most votes will be the one offered.
7-Review of all March activities:
Artisan Lunch at the Club—good, 16 attendees
Lunch at the Tavern—good, 22 attendees
Social Supper at Red Lobster—good, 19 attendees
Dinner at Saltgrass Steakhouse—good, 18 attendees
Event of a trip to the Strawberry Festival—only 18 attended so
we lost money, but those attending had a good time
St. Patrick’s Day Party -64 attendees; food was good
8-For the Good of the Order:
Pat reported that we have 297 members, not all of whom have
paid 2024 dues. Kathy reported that the Lions Club is collecting
eyeglasses, hearing aids and cell phones. Cindy mentioned that
Thriving in Place offers games and that our members could sign up for
those.
Our next meeting will be on April 26, 2024 at 11 a.m. at the Artisan
Park Clubhouse.

CELEBRATORS GENERAL MEETING MINUTES
APRIL 3, 2024
The meeting was called to order at 9:30 a.m. at Town Hall on April 3,
2024 by President Carol Coelho.
Bill Boyle led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Carol requested that members silence their cell phones.
Membership currently stands at 297. March 30 was the last day to
pay 2024 dues. Those who have not paid will be removed from the
group’s mailing list this month.
Carol indicated that there were sign up sheets in the back of the room
for upcoming activities or that members could sign up on line. She
announced that there is a new procedure for all paid events. When
you sign up for an event at a meeting the payment is due at that time.
If you sign up on line, payment should be mailed that same day. All
payments will be held until the last day to pay occurs. On that day, if
we don’t have a minimum number of paid sign-ups (25), the event will
be cancelled and your payments will be returned at the next meeting.
The Board of Directors has voted to increase our annual dues to $20
starting in 2025 and there will no longer be age exceptions for paying
dues. The Board also voted to have no general meetings in July and
August, but all other events will continue.
Upcoming events include a Cinco De Mayo party at the Artisan Park
Clubhouse. Last day to sign up and pay is April 30. More information
to follow. There will be a Magic Kingdom Fireworks cruise on April 10.
Attendees will need to be at the boat launch by 7 p.m. Please see
Carol for a pass to get through the gate at the Contemporary. This
event is currently wait listed.
There will be a cruise in January, 2025. 3 options are available and
can be viewed in the back of the room. When you sign up showing an
interest, please indicate your choice of options and we will book the
cruise having the most choices.
Carol announced that there is a box in the lobby for those donating
eyeglasses to the Lions Club. There is also an upcoming town
shredding event. She then introduced our speaker, Stephanie
Garber, a Professional Organizer, who will give us tips on
decluttering. We should keep only those items that serve a purpose
or give us joy. There was a $25 gift card for the person who answered
a specific question. Following her presentation, a brief question and
answer period followed.
Stephanie chose the 50/50 winner who received $44.
