The Celebrators
Meeting Minutes
June 1, 2011
Dick Nathan rescheduled Pat Wasson's speaking engagement until
October
Dick Nathan asked for a show of hands if anyone was interested in
having the abbreviated monthly meetings @ Starbucks. Dick Wells will
make e-mail announcements for the get togethers. The meeting will be
informal over coffee. If the informal meeting is held in town,
coffee could be purchased @ the store and carried to the covered
benches by the lake.
Dick N would like to make plans for a Halloween party in the fall
with pot luck and
costumes. He also asked if anyone would like to participate in the
Celebration 4th of July parade and carry our banner. He
didn't get much interest.
Dick reminded everyone about the Celebration 15 year anniversary
happening this November 12th. We should have discussions
about group trips that are expensive, overnight, and not so
expensive, and local.
This fall Dick would like to have focus groups where we would meet @
someone's house and have discussions for:
•
By-laws-Possible amendments
President elect
Nominating procedures
Transition period
•
Communications-New web page
•
Activities
Out and About
Happy Hour
•
Membership-New member drive
Pat Wells asked if anyone had receipts to hand in for reimbursement.
She also asked if “dining out” should be continued during the summer
months. A majority of members would like to continue the activity.
Sal made mention of the town's Veteran's Day celebration that will
be held on November 12th.
Dick N mentioned about the Celebrator's Club anniversary and if Mike
S had any information yet. Mike S said he would have some info ready
in September.

Dick N reminded everyone about the holiday party to be held @ the
Radisson across 192 on December 8th.
Mike Turner said the next happy hour will be held @ the Mona Lisa
Hotel. He's not sure if it's going to be Wednesday the 15th
or Thursday the 16th, he will let us know.
Continued happy hours was voted OK for the rest of the summer.
There will not be any newsletters for the summer months however
announcements will be sent out as needed. The next newsletter will
go out the end of August.
Cindi S asked if trips could be announced well in advance so the
folks can make the appropriate arrangements.
Ginny Wallace suggested the Celebrators sign up for volunteer work
to assist other Celebrators, ie, sickness @ home, hardship, and
transportation.
Dick N made a statement that the group's speakers should be
appropriate for the group and not just interested in selling a
“product”.
Mike S and Cindi S volunteered to not only send out sympathy cards
but also send out get well cards, special birthday cards and
anniversary cards..
Pat W made the announcement that she and Dick have medical
equipment, wheel chairs, walkers, etc., in their garage for loan.
Please call her if if you need anything.

The Celebrators
Meeting Minutes
October 5, 2011
Today's guest speaker: Town Manager-Pat Wasson
Mary Nathan introduced new Celebrator members, Bobby & Sheri Stewart
and Bob & Elizabeth Rodock.
Bill Pelaia introduced Pat Wasson with a short bio.
Pat Wasson talked about how Celebration was the second civic group
right after the Rotary. Financially, Celebration is relatively
better off than most Florida communities.
Despite the foreclosures the town is trying to keep Celebration as
close to the original intent as possible.
Forbes magazine has named Celebration as nation's top 10 prettiest
neighborhoods. Since 2002 when Disney turned over the town to the
board, the community has remained essentially the same.
Pat reminded the Celebrators if they wish not to have their e-mail
address or phone number published to fill out the necessary form
before the new directory is printed. The new directory is scheduled
to be distributed early next January.
The board would eventually like to go completely paperless.
Pat went over the various community programs such as Yoga/Pilates,
Jazzersize, etc.
The new website was met with mixed feelings. Pat said if people are
having trouble navigating the site she would set up a
meeting/session where someone @ the board would show people how to
get around.
David Coops Landscape Design has been hired to review all the parks
and come up new landscape plants that are native to FL and are
freeze & drought tolerant. The first park that will be reviewed is
in West Village by Greenbrier Ave.
Some plants around town only have a 10 year lifespan.
The light poles will be repainted as well as the benches(
Celebration Green).
The town has sent out letters to folks that must paint, clean or
repair outside items. If anyone needs extra time, just send an
e-mail and the town will extend the deadline.
The town will maintain properties of foreclosures to keep the
community looking proper.
The town has photographed every property in Celebration.
There is a new plant guide available for a more Florida-friendly
landscape.
Pat said the “Pirate ship is back”. Also one of the Celebration
houses is on UTUBE.
Pat went on to say in all her travels she finds Celebration people
one of the most passionate, considerate and charitable.
Watertower will be redesigned but she couldn't say who or what will
be there. She went on to say we will be very pleased. She did
intimate that Panera Bread might be around.
Someone asked if Pat could check on the lighting in the parking lot
behind the post office.
The movie theater, or lack of, was brought up.
People agreed with Pat that if a good number of people wrote to AMC
they might change their minds and let the property go. Pat will send
out their address.
